Curiousity Rover has landed on Mars!
"Curiosity Lands on Mars: Monday, August 06, 2012 1:32 PMNASA's Curiosity rover has landed on Mars! Its descent-stage retrorockets fired, guiding it to the surface. Nylon cords lowered the rover to the ground in the "sky crane" maneuver. When the spacecraft sensed touchdown, the connecting cords  were severed, and the descent stage flew out of the way. The time of day at the landing site is mid-afternoon -- about 3 p.m. local Mars time at Gale Crater. The time at JPL's mission control is about 10:31 p.m. Aug. 5 PDT (early morning EDT)."  [1]

Water Scarcity

Environmental Issues
"Water Scarcity"
___________________________________________

At any given time, the country has 146 billion cubic meters of water available, yet we are treating it like a free resource… we are throwing water away by the second, and we are not managing it properly,” Environment Secretary Ramon Paje said.

Last June 27, 2012, one reporter in our discussion explained that fresh water in the world is decreasing. He even showed some pictures of people in the other countries who are encountering problems on how to get water. Water is the most abundant resource here on Earth. [1] They have discussed that fresh water is a renewable resource which means it is a natural resource that has the ability to reproduce. However the reporter said that we will gradually experience problems in fresh water because the world's supply of clean fresh water is decreasing day by day.

Since Earth Science studies about Earth and it's neighbors, let's take a little tour to the universe.

When I was scrolling down my news feed (on facebook), I found this page, called Interesting Facts, wherein they post a lot of things that will surely amaze you. When I was browsing their pictures, I found a picture that inspired me to write this blog post.

This:

This is the World's Most Expensive Cricket Ball. Each diamond ball is studded with 5,728 pieces of diamonds with a worth of approximately $68,500.[1]

Earth Science is the study of the Earth and its neighbors in space. [1] Scientists believe that the Blue Planet is around 4.6 billion years old. We all know that Earth is a life-bearing planet but is it the only life-bearing planet in the universe? Watch this video [2] and take a look at those potential life-bearing planets.
